Eye Donation - Pledge and Donate your eyes !!

To begin with, i have started an initiative for creating awareness among public about this eye donation concept. In India there are approximately 40 lakh people who suffer from blindness due to some defect in the cornea. 60% of such cases are found in children below the age of 12 years. Here, we can pitch in by pledging our eyes and later donating our eyes (after death) so that 2 corneally affected blind persons can see and enjoy the beauty of this world with our eyes! Eye pledging and donation is a very strong concept where a person can pledge his/her eyes for donation. Later, after the death of the person, the eyes can be donated. Unfortunately, the number of eyes coming to the eye-banks are very very meagre compared to the current requirement (of blind people). This is due to many reasons, one of them is lack of awareness among public about this good deed! Remember the Aishwarya Rai's campaign of eye donation? Remember Amitabh and Jaya Bhachan's campaign on eye donation? Ya...am speaking of the same eye donation campaigns these big people have endorsed...i really appreciate this.... but, its very sad to know that this alone is not going to help in creating awareness among public. Hence, i want to take up this task and am currently in the initial stages of setting up the required things for this. As this is a huge concept, we can write pages on this. So, i am limiting myself to this much of information.
