Mumbai walloan ko dekhiye janaab...
Hmmm...almost in continuation with my previous blog...
I daily take local ride from Andheri to Lower Parel via the Dadar station [as my friend calls - Deadly Dadar! - as this is one of the most crowded stations in Mumbai and all d time, u see ppl, ppl and more ppl!! As my friend says, its not our cup of tea to get in/down of this station during peak hours...am yet to experience this...:)] ...the point here is in and out of the station, there are so many people that you just cannot walk freely anytime of the day...u r always in the midst of a thick crowd...The crowd that does not care who is the person in front of them or back of them...only rule here is to RUSH, RUN!!
I have had many experiences and to quote one of them, last week when I was walking out of the platform when suddenly 2 guys came running, in opposite direction, at an amazing speed and within notime, b4 my mind cud give me signal 2 move out of their 'track', one of the guys came almost face 2 face with me and was about to bang me like anything...but still we hit both at shoulders and god...i somehow escaped...but this did not slow down his 'track' speed and he kept running...all coz 2 catch a local !!! One more daily experience is where u have to push, rather squeeze urself thru the crowd to walk fast and walk in ur direction...otherwise, am sure that u vl b pulled 2 the opposite direction...all coz of that much crowd and their RUSH!!!
Same with locals...the people standing in the door vl never leave u to easily get-in/out of the train...very very annoying attitude...that too when u r sweating like anything and a big crowd is trying to enter like mad-dogs and guys standing in the door r not leaving space 2 enter in...2 much pathetic stuff!! Even very educated ppl, some dressed in suits and very formal wear behave like this...dunno when the 'common sense' among ppl vl prevail!! The same while getting down...the train wud b coming 2 a halt but before that itself people push like anything...this is one reason why I try to avoid being at the door while getting down a crowded train...no matter if the train moves and I have to get down at next station, its fine...but cannot go thru this ordeal...not my cup of tea! :)
Anyways, as a coin has 2 faces, there are also lot of faces to this city....
I can aptly recollect the song that has been sung by Late Momd Rafi (film: CID)...it matches so nicely with the song / the song matches so nicely to this city that any person who is leading his life in Mumbai can relate the day-2-day life with this song...
"Aye dil hai mushkil jeena yahan
Zara hat ke, zara bach ke, yeh hai Bombay meri jaan..."
