LIVE, ON AIR, on Radio City 91FM Bangalore
Today Morning i was ON AIR LIVE, in a segment called 'Bangalore Inspires', speaking about my Eye Donation initiative to the always enthu-filled RJ Vasanthi!! It is a great feeling to go on air and express your ideas/views to the people of Bangalore...And u know, i got a good response instantly with lots of SMS flooding, for some queries / for support of this cause!
The office of Radio City is pretty small and even small is the Recording room, from where the music is pumped out to the City 24/7!! Vasanthi made me feel very comfortable with the before-hand discussions about the topics that would come on air...so that you will feel at ease while answering them ON AIR! While coming out, at 1100hrs, i met RJ Cindu, who hosts the segment next to RJ Vasanthi's 'Good Morning Bangalore'! RJ Feona was on leave today and RJ Darius and RJ Sunaina Lal were not in the office at that time (i mean they usually come in the late noon for their evening show!)
Its awesome and i truly hope and just hope that the Eye Donation awareness increases among all Bangaloreans...:)

Not all corneas can be used for transplant. Only relatively young ones can be used. Corneas of people who expire due to old age cannot be used for this purpose. If I remember right, eyes above 50 yrs or so are almost of no use for a transplant. So the real problem lies here. Healthy eyes for a transplant can be obtained only from young people. When a person of age, say 30 yrs expires, what is the mental state of the people close to him/her? How does one reach out to an grief-stricken aged parent whose son/daughter aged 30 just expired and talk about donating any organ? And that too within 10-15 hours of death?
To make your efforts a success, I think the target audience needs to be people much smaller - kids going to school probably. A person needs to grow up with that mentality. An entire generation needs to grow up with that mentality. It might be too late to talk to people who are above say 25 yrs old right now. For example, in our generation, if a friend expires in an accident, how many people will have the heart to talk to his/her parents within hours of that news to donate eyes? I believe that it requires a different kind of a mentality which unforunately only a few of our generation have. In my honest and personal opinion, we need to inculcate this mindset in people growing up.
